Why Oxford

Power BI for Oxford science and spinout companies

Our office sits on the same science park as many of the companies we serve. Oxford's life sciences firms and university spinouts generate trial data, lab outputs and grant reporting obligations that generic dashboard work handles badly. The data models need to respect how research actually runs, in cohorts, batches, programmes and funding lines, rather than in cost centres. A model built the wrong way round produces reports nobody in the lab recognises. Two builds come up constantly here. First, funder and board reporting that currently eats a week per quarter: we automate it so quarterly reporting becomes a review task rather than an assembly job. Second, row-level security for organisations running several commercially sensitive programmes side by side, so each team sees its own data and nobody sees more than their clearance allows. The common thread is that research reporting has to survive being questioned. A funder asking how a figure was derived, months later, is a normal event rather than an exception, so we build the trail in from the start: where each number came from, when it refreshed, and who could see it. Anyone on the park or in Littlemore can walk over, and the rest of Oxfordshire is a short drive. We cover Abingdon, Bicester, Banbury and Witney from here, and most engagements mix workshops on site with remote build.
